Investment Promotion Strategy and Policy

This course focuses on steps that governments can take to promote and facilitate investment in the host country, including that of encouraging any potential spillovers from foreign investment to local enterprise development. It provides the basis for a separate chapter of the Policy Framework for Investment.

  • Providing a checklist of issues in policy domains for consideration by any national/regional government interested in creating an environment that is attractive to all investors and in enhancing the development benefits of investment to society. 
  • To define strategic policy options and set out the corporate strategy and marketing plan for investment promotion.
  • Analyze the effects of tax incentives, the role of promotion and institutions responsible for FDI attraction based on the experiences in a number of countries.
  • Assess best practices for attracting FDIs and promoting domestic investment.
